Mass air flow sensor

Has anybodys mass air flow sensor went bad and how did your truck act. I have a 1997 F150 with 4.2 V6 and idles rough. Went to Auto Zone and they scanned my system and said the MAS was bad.

Have you tried cleaning the MAF and checked for vacuum leaks first. Rough idle and running poorly in general are symptoms of those problems.
