I purchased a pair of forward firing 194 Leds from VLEDS for my tag lights but the bulbs were too big for the housing. My question is can I use them for the map lights? Is a forward firing LED the right choice or does it need to be one that has 360 degree lighting? The first pic is the one I have and the 2nd pic is of the 360 degree LED. Thanks!
I think the simplest answer is to remove the housing and insert them and test them out since you already have them.
I swapped mine with the 360 degree LED's because unless that is going to point EXACTLY where you want it to, it's not going to work. The reflector serves a purpose when you use the 360 degree one's. It is negated when you choose the one's you have in your possession.

True. I appreciate your input! I always try to refrain from taking things apart more than once. (If I can help it)
I went ahead and put the LEDs in and I gotta say I'm impressed. You could almost light the entire cab with just the maps and the lighting is very even. Just FYI for anyone else. Now I gotta order the dome light...
