... clean the wire which detects incoming air temps with Q-Tips and plain old rubbing alcohol ... no residue left behind.

Agreed, if you're going to remove the MAF, you can buy the cleaner and just spray it down a couple of times; however, the wire which 'senses' on ly needs to be lightly cleaned with alcohol and a Q-Tip or a cottonball. NEVER use a brush or anything abrasive on the wire.

I don't want to touch it with a Q-tip. I know it can be done, but just say one cotton fiber gets on that fillament from the Q-tip. It's gonna completely throw off the computer as if you it never got clean.

I'm 52 and have been using alcohol and Q-Tips on my race car MAF ever since the inception of electronic fuel injection. Everytime I head to the dragstrip (2-3 times every month), I clean the sensor to clean any buildup from the wire.

A minute cotton fiber doesn't cause the ECM/PCM to richen or lean the AFR to effect performance. It does not change the temperature of the thermistor. You might want to read this to get a better understanding of how the MAF works.

Cool man! I wish I could go to the track that much. But I can't I work 7 Days a week

Lets think about it, your age has nothing to do with this, I'm 25 but we both started driving M.A.F.s that were worth a damn, at around the same time.

That was a good write up you posted, but I don't need tech. I'm aware of how they work, I'm going with a ba2600 when I get tuned next. I was just putting it in simple terms for everyone!

I still wouldn't use a Q-tip, even though I have!

What kinda car do you take to the track? Curious.
