Default Low Oil But Not buring it or leaking?

2003 F 150 with 159,000 miles, v-8, 5.4 L. Changed oil 2,000 miles ago ( November). Checked yesterday and it was 4 quarts + low?

No leaking found in garage nor smoke out tail pipe. Runs great.

Suggestions or what to look for?

Thanks

Unless the truck was not completly full after the oil change, I can only see two ways to lose oil, burn it or leak it.

Best,

Matt

Do you have the oil filter relocation kit on the truck? If so check the lines. I thought me truck was burning oil but turns out the line is leaking slowly and the dust collects on the line keeping the oil from hitting the ground.

No oil relocation kit.

If I am 4 quarts low after 2,000 miles that comes to 1 quart every 500 miles. That would seem that I would see smoke out the tailpipe or leading somewhere on the garage floor.

I will monitor the oil levels each week to determine if it continues to do this. Perhaps the Walmart folks just didn't put enough oil in?

Thanks

if you had your oil changed at walmart - yes they probably didn't put enough oil in. Check your PCV value to make sure it's not clogged too.
