Default Loud Rattle on Front Passenger Side

Hi,

I have a 2004 F150 FX4 and about a week ago I started noticing a very loud metallic buzzing sound coming from the right front side. I have read the other threads about checking heat shields and all but I was messing with it today and I noticed when switching to 4wd the sound stops. The sound is usually only heard when driving at average speed and stops when you slow down or stop. . Thought maybe possibly the wheel bearing but havent checked it yet. If anyone knows whats going on or has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I have the same problem on my 04 xlt. Just removed and checked the heat shields today, cleaned the rocks out and put on new clamps. Seems the buzzing or rattle is coming from the converter. Well that's what the dealership told me. Not sure if thats the cause or not.

Well actually what it turned out to be was the IWE solenoid was broken, replaced that and the wheel bearing and no problems since knock on wood. Part number is 6L3Z-9E441-A I believe. Pretty simple to install. You probably dont need to install a new bearing but I did anyway. Seems to be a pretty common problem on these trucks.
