Looking for some crazy bright reverse lights for cheap?
So I literally came up with this like 30 min ago haha. I had some cheap harbor freight lights ($20) which after pulling apart are decent. They have a glass lense and a metal chrome plated reflector. I also had some DDM H10 35w hids(like$35) new sitting in a box so figured why not. So I started to dissasemble the lights

then pulled the lights apart, 2 phillips and then glass and reflector pull out, then bulb is held in with a small phillips screw. And once removed back of the reflector looks like this
there is a little tab that is on the refelctor, well the hid bulb literally slides into it perfectly, and then once slid in use the same screw and it holds it in place, very snug with no movement.

almost like it was made for it

because the hid bulb is longer, you need to knock a hole in the back of the light housing to allow the bulb and wires to come out

then slide wires through and reassemble

and then fired it up, just sitting on my audi's firewall. All lights in garage were turned off and pitch black outside. Id say output is awesome

and for safe measure I through some sealant on the back and called it good

Ill be mounting these on the back of my roof rack for reverse lights but obviously there is other uses for them. And yes before people freak about an hid in a halogen housing. These are made for aux lights and not for permanent fog lights or such. and for reverse lights give off a crazy amount of light, They also make heat but with the glass and metal hosuing I feel fine. If they bubble the chrome so be it. Theyre $20 lights.

Will do, going to run a relay triggered by the reverse lights. And then have to run up through the deck connector and stuff so will be a few days before mounted. They're supposed to pull like 12.2 Amps on startup and settle down to 3.45 amps. But just to be safe I'll make its own circuit so I don't blow my reverse light fuse considering it that fuse powers other things.
What I can't decide is if I want to also set it up to come on with my bed lights also. So when I would unlock the truck they would come on. Or when loading stuff they could come on and I could also then turn them on whenever I wanted with the dome light switch
