need your opinion. im looking at an 01 crew cab 5.4 4x4 with 193000 miles on. the guy is asking 5000 and already talked him down to 4500. truck needs a wheel in the front(17)but is in decent shape. runs good. i know the guy that had it before the one who traded it in. he put most of the miles on it (highway). has newer wheel cylinders,and ball joints,exhaust and he said it might need a fuel pump.... is 4000 a good deal do you think? any thing to check into before i go any further? known problems? thanks guys

ok guys. i like the higher miles because if i buy one with lower miles i wont want to drive it. lol i want to find one cheap and dont mind doing the work to one with higher miles. ive got a lifted 91 ranger ext cab and want more room. i did all the work on that too so i dont mind getting into things like that. i thought 4 would have been a fair price,glad i asked. ill keep looking or do some major neg. it sounds like. haha!

 

For me a 100000 is fine. I would buy that for 4000 but were you from and ill look around for ya on craigslist for a decent truck

 

im right around peoria, il. ive looked around but with no sucess for a nice cheaper crew cab 4x4. ill take all the help i can get. lol i had a 98 xlt lariat 4x4 and an 03 crew cab 4x4 too(should have kept it)

 

193k for 4.5k and it is missing a front wheel? WTF NO WAY I'd pay that.

Keep looking... 5k should get you a truck with atleast 150k miles... and it not be missing a wheel.

 

have to agree with that, unless the truck is in amazing shape, ie. my friend baught a 1997 lariat for 8k but it had no rust at all 110k miles 20inch rims system exhaust etc etc. You should be able to find something a lil newer as well, i looked at one the other day was a 04 4.6l 4x4 ext cab 87K miles, in immaculate shape was asking 7k. Tho ive noticed that ppl tend to ask alot more just becuase it is a crew cab, is it possiable to get pics of it? like int,frame,body,engine etc?

 

offer him $500. if he says no, then walk.

 

lol, im going to keep looking but only want a crew cab. i see what you guys are saying about everyone wanting alot because their crew cabs. if im out by it again ill stop and snap a few pics. its no where near exelent shape. but around here there wanting 8500-9000 for 160,000 mile trucks! i appreciate all the input guys,alot!
