Default Lifter Problem?

04 F-150 5.4L Lariat 4x4.
This is my first 5.4L Ford F-150 with 33356 miles. The motor is making a loud ticking noise when at idle. maybe it could be a lifter? What I'm wanting to know is if the ticking noise is normal? It seems to be louder when it is warmed up. I have a '98 F-150 4.6L Lariat and it is not this loud. On the '04 the motor is not idling rough. Could I hook it up to diagnostics to tell me any problems? Any help on what to do would be great.

Thanks

Most likely you have the common exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold. The Triton engines do not have lifters.
