Yes, get shocks for a lift. I believe that's 1 reason your getting a weird ride besides the shocks are bad but they are extended because of the lift.. My buddy mentioned get shocks for 5"-9" lift but I am not sure if that is correct.
To get a good length for the shocks, I would call up a four wheel drive shop and tell them what you did for a lift. They'll be able to tell you exactly what you need.
Your rough ride IS from cranking the T-bars. I can guarantee that because I know from experience. When torsion bars are cranked to a certain extent, they don't allow very much upward movement, only downward. This in turn will make you feel every bump on the road, no doubt about it. Aftermarket torsion keys allow you to potentially over crank the bars, exacerbating the probability or wearing out CV's faster then normal, ruin the ride quality and require realigning your rig too. Not saying you did the wrong lift for your application, but your ride quality will suffer. Good shocks will help some, but won't make it feel like it did before by any means.
I have my stock keys cranked up just enough to level my truck and it still rides pretty nice. Stock keys offer enough room to play around with, without creating an uncomfortable ride.
I'n order to restore your ride, you'll have to get and actual suspension lift that relocates your suspension bracketry. Rough country makes a 4 to 5" lift for about a grand. It's the cheapest one I could find.
