Leveling vs fuel economy

Leveling vs fuel economy
New to the Forum and first post! Has anyone else noticed about a 4mpg reduction after adding a 2.5" leveling kit..... I am now getting better instant economy while driving in city conditions averaging around 19.6 vs 18.2 at highway speeds.... Before I leveled I was seeing 23mpg highway and about 18.8 city driving!

Leveling the truck didn't cost you 4 mpg. MAYBE a fraction of 1 mpg at hwy. speeds. Probably none at all at slower speeds. Something else is to blame and it is a coincidence that it happened at the same time as the level.

Agreed, your aerodynamic adjustment can cost 2 mpg highway, nothing around town. Subsidized Winter gas ripe with ethanol can affect you 1-2, probably running richer in the winter due to air density. Very nice looking however.

I agree with everyone else, I don't think it would affect aerodynamics enough to cost 4 mpg. Trucks have the nose down not only for aerodynamics but also to prevent excessive squat when it's loaded. When the bed is loaded or you're towing heavy the squat of the rear end will level it out. Steering and stability won't be effected as it would with a nose up stance when the truck has a heavy load.

There wasn't any noticeable difference in MPG when I leveled my 2012. But I do notice a MPG drop every winter when the gas switches over. Then it picks backup in the spring.

Before the leveling kit it was always going downhill, hence the improved fuel economy.....
