definitely for looks. I haven't noticed any drop in MPG or ride quality. Obviously, you'll have to have an alignment done.
A lot of folks upsize the wheels and/or tires at the same time and that will change the ride quality and MPGs.
I think the biggest disadvantage of leveling is loaded performance, when hauling something heavy or towing a trailer. The factory 3" or so of rake is meant to give some so that it's not squatting when loaded. a Level will take that out. It's a good idea to add airbags or something similar to control the rear-sag while loaded.
