I leave my hitch in all the time. I used to take it out when not using it and had someone back into me in a parking lot and dent and scratch my bumper all up one time. If I had my hitch in it would have damaged their car more than mine. I leave it in all the time now as protection. Haha

I don't leave it in because if someone were to hit it, and hit it hard enough it could damage the receiver, and I wouldn't know it until the trailer fell off. That and up in snow country those lock pins tend to seize up and getting the hitch off may require a torch! LOL, Been There, Done That!

I have this neat storage rack on my RV though that stores the WDH and bars, and has locks on it to prevent theft.
