Default Leer Topper

Okay, so this truck came with this amazing topper (nicest one I have ever had). Anyway, This thing fits so well there is literally no room between the cab and the topper, like 3/4".

It looks really good on the truck, but, being so close to the cab it is virtually impossible to clean the outside of the windows of the cab and the topper.

I got in the back of the truck to clean the inside of the topper glass and noticed these two ... "lever" things. Being me I slide them down and viola, the front glass of the topper folds in and comes out which makes it really easy to clean both the cab glass and the topper glass.

So, my question is does anyone know if there is a way to remove the screens on the side windows? I might be able to clean them by opening them, but, it's pretty tight. The screens slide forward and aft but don't seem to disconnect.

I believe the topper is the Leer 100 QXR Sport, although I can't confirm that because apparently they only make those for the shorter beds and mine is a long bed. I've reached out to Leer via email, no response yet, but, it's only been a day or two.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yours is a little different than mine. But I've aways just slid the window open to clean the glass from the inside behind the screens. I would assume you can do the same. But that is rarely needed.

Having the removeable window in the front helps. My Tacoma doesn't have that feature and I have to loosen the clamps occasionally and slide the cap back 6" or so to clean the front of the cap and back of the truck

My side windows do not slide to open. You turn a **** in the rear and they open about 2-3" in the rear and only like 1/2" all the way up front. It's more like a crack to vent thing.

I bought the truck and it got fairly cold ... so I haven't really messed around with the topper yet. The PO worked for oil rigs (some kind of mechanic that came when they needed him - consultant?) and would sleep in the truck while at a site. Most of the rigs in this area are in dusty desert terrain and the bed and inside the topper is really dusty. It didn't look too bad when the dealer "detailed it" but it quickly got dusty again.

We are going through a unusually warm spell (50's) so, I'm trying to get the bed cleaned out some. I've vacuumed the topper, but, it got dusty again fairly quickly. I think the bed rug is holding a lot of dust. I'm hoping like you said the side windows will not need too much cleaning once I get them cleaned well. Of course I'll need to get the dust out of the bed rug. Haven't vacuumed that yet.

I have the Leer 180 on my 2013 when it is not hanging in the garage and have to loosen it up to clean the glass between, I wash, Clay Bar and waxed it when I did it. I have Windoors on the side so they are easy to clean.
BTW you have a regular bed, long bed is still 8 foot

Having the longest bed make for that model truck, makes his truck the long bed. Even though it is shorter than a std. cab long bed.

It's like when you go to a burger joint and say I want a small fry, they say we only have medium and large, then by default the medium is the small.

Do they even make an 8 foot bed on a super crew? I've never seen one longer than 6 1/2 foot. I'm pretty sure an 8 foot wouldn't fit in my garage ... maybe not even in the driveway ... LOL. So just so I understand the proper terminology, what do they call the bed? Short and Regular? So kewl to learn something every day. :-).

I did get the bed vacuumed on Sunday when I cleaned the glass ... pretty dirty. In the first picture you can see the dirt sucked out of the bed rug ... the second shows the front topper window removed. That sure does make the cleaning of the window much easier.

Don't think the fact that it is the longest for that model make it a long bed, it is an optioned regular 6.5 foot bed, still the Mid sized bed for that model year so it is not considered a long bed. Back in 2001 when he SCew's first came out they were a 5.5 foot bed only but on your reasoning it was a long bed because it was the longest that was available on that model truck while in all fairness it was the shortest bed Ford made at the time.

It is a regular bed since that is the default bed on a regular cab and in the work truck ranks it is considered a short bed. As to the other question no the SCrew's do not come with an 8 foot bed but saying they do not make the Shell for a Long bed would mean 8 foot bed not the regular 6.5 foot bed since that would mean none for the regular cab short bed or the SCab with the 6.5 foot bed would be able to get that shell.
If you go to Leer's site that is an option for a 2018 SCrew with the 6.5 as well as the SCab with the 6.5 foot bed but not for the 8 foot bed, the true long bed.
