Yeah, that's what I was thinking but can't find any data.

Only the military and space programs are exempt from lead free solder due to a phenomenon known as 'tin wiskers'. All other aspects of manufacturing have been lead free for a long time.

Indeed as well as a few other issues.

I was just curious as to what my truck might have, lead or unleaded solder being a 2005. I was fairly sure they made the switch but no idea when.

I would think probably around the same time they stopped using leaded fuel in the late 70's early 80's.

If I may show my ignorance for a moment or two ... what difference would it make if the solder material contains lead or not (other than the a fore mentioned "tin whiskers"?)

question really centers around why the OP would be asking ... I'm only assuming that it makes some sort of difference for something he's planning on doing to his truck?

Your right, I never said.

Previous owner took it upon themselves to tap a few new power lines off various points and I am going to clean up there mess. Just wanted to know what the base solder was before I dig into it.

I decided to ask ford about the solder. This is what they said.

My name is xxxxxxx, I am from Ford`s Customer Relationship Center (CRC). I have reviewed your email inquiring about the Solder used in the construction of your 2005 Ford F-150.

Information that is considered proprietary in nature to the Ford Motor Company is unavailable to the public. The company is unable to share such information with the public.

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.

I found this interesting. Solder is hardly a trade secret.
