I was wondering if using this same logic would be possible for programming new keys if you only have 1 original? Bought my truck with only 1 key and I would hate to lose it and have to buy a new one for $250 like my brother.

Also wanted to get some opinions about custom keys, like this:

Has anyone bought anything like this? Are they reliable? Love it / hate it? Know of any other types?

Thanks

From my limited experience (1 duplicate made), a chipped key cost $85. The key I used had the plastic ring busted off it, so I couldnt hook it onto my key chain. Needless to say I lost it all the time (pockets of last nights pants, cat stole it, behind the couch, etc...). I didnt want to replace it because of the pure prinicple behind a $100 key. I think you have to break down and get another. I spent a whole year of frustration looking for alternate ideas, and in the end I had to give in to 'the man'.
