Default Keypad issue 2012 Lariat

Hi All, I'm a new F150 owner. Picked up a used 2012 Lariat a month ago. Love the truck, but I got locked out today.

The keypad has worked fine up until today. I locked the truck using the pad, when I returned entering the code didn't open the locks. Interestingly, the horn honked when I hit the second number of the code (8).

I got my other key (with out the keyless fob) and it wouldn't open the door. Called the locksmith and got in.

Everything works normally with the remote key entry. The truck will lock using the keypad (pushing down the last two buttons). But I can't get the code to work. I'm using the factory code.

Any suggestions?

When it's dark enough to see the key pad buttons light up, press each one and see if any don't activate the back light, you have to wait until the light goes dark before proceeding to the next button. If any one of them does not activate the back light you will have to replace the entire keypad, if all of them light, you have other issues that will require diagnostics.

Thanks so much for this. I think I have it figured out. Did the test you describe, all buttons light up the pad... however, hitting the 7-8 button locks the truck (just like hitting the 7-8 & 9-0 buttons at the same time). Pretty sure I have some gunk in there causing some button "crossover". Unfortunately, the 7-8 button is part of my code! Might be time for a new keypad.

Thanks again for the help :-)
