Default Key for 2014

My key will remotely lock the truck but the unlock and remote start have stopped working. If nothing worked I would assume the whole fob was dead but the lock button works.

Where do you recommend I buy another?

Dawg, I went to the Ford dealer to get my second fob, $150 and a half hour wait. I bought my 2014 used but it only came with one fob. The local hardware store wouldn't sell me a replacement fob due to the security "features" in the fob. I once used the key to unlock the door to get in, but the dash lit up and said it wouldn't start the truck until I pressed the unlock button on the fob. Good luck!

When one of my keys broke like yours did, I made the mistake of buying a used one from my Ford dealer. Key cost me over $50 and they were going to charge me another $100+ for a Tech to "program" it for me. I balked at that extra charge.

Just so happened I had to go to a locksmith, Eastern Lock and Key, to replace some generic keys. Told her about my Ford Key. She said If I had come to her first, she would have sold me on for about 2/3 the Ford price. On top of that, she printed out the instructions for programing the keys at no charge. She took 5 minutes of her time and she programed it herself for no charge.

Amazon sells remote start keys. You just need to get it cut and then you can program it. It's not difficult. The instructions are within the forum.

Thanks for the tip. For those items which have more than 20 or 30 reviews, about 20% of the reviews are horror stories. It's starting to look like this is definitely one of those "you get what you pay for" type things.

I'm going to try to find an OEM replacement from a reputable parts dealer online, then will try to get programming instructions for it and program myself.
