Default ketterg

I have 1996 f150 with 5.0 engine. Have a code p0403. The Purge valve will come on if i ground it where the wire connects to the pcm. So i guessing the problem is in the pcm. Would it be ok to keep the purge valve on all the time by keeping this wire manually grounded?

Default ketterg-purge valve

So would in be worth it to change the pcm just to have the purge valve working? I don't have to worry about emissions testing here in central Texas
