jumps out of park

Default jumps out of park

i have a 1997 ford f150 extended cab 4x4 auto trans thats jumps out of park and rolls away when park on hill. any ideas where to start to fix the problem. thanks for your time.

Does it shift into the other gears okay or do you have to wiggle the lever?

i just fixed a ranger with this similiar problem... on the column underneath where the shifter cables attaches is a bracket.. there should b 2 torx bit screws that hold the bracket.. they`re good for loosening up and/or one falling out. check that out

That's right, we've had E150s and F150s do that too. None dropped out of park but they sure didn't go in the gears goos.

okay. yeah just follow the cable from the floor up under neath should be able to see it
