intermittent starting problems
Im so glad that you had to jump through these rings of fire because mine started this crap lastnight and got it towed home for $77.00...for ten miles, maybe. We got it off the roll back and it fired right up of course and I was like "Youve gotta be
'n kiddin me!"
Its done it a couple times since then, Ive had people tell me...the fuel pump...the relay...the wires...the key...the ignition...the security system. The fuel pump primes each time I turn the ignition on, and with my experience fuel pumps dont act up, they just fall on their face and quit. Done.
How much was this magical part that I already forgot the name of?
And of course my truck does this when we get a foot of snow...that Ive been waiting on all year.

I worked on a 2005 Expedition with similar problems and found there is a fuel pump driver module {FPDM} located on drivers side frame at rear above spare tire. The mounting bracket is steel and the backing of the module is aluminum and the two form corrosion and rot the back of the module out causing shorting problems. There are 2 small screws on the front side and a pinned plug on the back side. After dropping spare takes about 10 minutes to check out. Hope this helps
SoMalignity, still OK? I've read this thread with HUGE interest since im going through the same frikken ramdomness. So is was either the fuel pump electrically spinning but not pumping, or, this FPDM. Since pump replacement are you good? I also have a pump I can hear spinning, but no pressure at the rail. I also cant afford to miss anymore work over this! So thanks for your posting...i was about to have an F150 bonfire.
