Default Interesting Observations Today

So today I had an hour to kill before driving to see my girlfriend, so I popped into the local Ford dealer to see what they had on the lot. I noticed a couple things that I found kind of interesting.

First they had a 2014 Expedition there, these things are still running with the 5.4 liter and rated for 11.3L/100km on the highway. It was pretty nicely equipped and came with a msrp of just over 71k......so after seeing that price I walked over to the the superduties and saw a 2014 F250 crew cab XLT 4wd with the powerstroke, for 63k, 8 grand cheaper and it can pull way more then the expedition and probably would net similar mileage when empty. I know they are 2 different vehicles designed for different tasks however I'd expect the superduty to cost more, maybe that's just me. I know I'll be buying a F250 long before I buy an expedition!

Second there is a Chevy dealer right next store to the Ford dealer so I took a walk over to get a closer look at the new silverado's. To my surprise they had a 2014 Z71 unlocked. It was the extended cab version so I figured it would be a good opportunity to see the difference between its back seat and the one in my Scab. I hopped in the driver seat and put the chair to a comfortable driving position for me (I'm 6'1"). Then I got into the back seat behind the drivers seat. First I will say that although the new standard opening doors they have for the back seat are going to be a help in parking lots they don't make getting in and out if the truck any easier. The opening seems small and I had a rougher time getting in the back then I do with the suicide doors in my Scab. The B-pillar got in the way of my knees. Rear leg room was about the same between my truck and the silverado, but one thing was not the same by a long shot and that was head room. I put the rear headrest in the silverado up so I could lean my head back and "bump" My head hit the roof. There are cut outs for more head room but you need to sit slightly forward to take advantage of them, so on a long road trip if your 6'1" like me or taller you won't be able to lean your head back without hitting your head on the roof. I got in the back seat of my truck and repeated the exercise raising the head rest (which is bigger and more comfortable in the Ford) and I was able to rest my head back with about 2 inches of head room to spare. This was a big disappointment for me in the interior design of the Chevy. The rest of the interior is nice but doesn't blow me away in comparison to my Ford and that is me being as non-bias as I can.
