Sorry if I missed this in my searches.

Is is possible to swap the XLT instrument cluster with that of an FX4 (the nice one)? Would I need a new computer? Also what about the steering wheel controls and the message center? Can I just grab these from a donor truck and swap them out?

 

The best way to find out is to ask a Ford dealership. I am going to call tomorrow becuase I want to put an XLT in my XL

 

it can be done. i put lariat gauges in my stx and the only thing that isnt working is "door ajar". i just made the swap a couple days ago so im still tryin to figure out if i can make the message center work.

 

I would say yes because the FX4 is an XLT with the FX package and 4x4.

 

I have an 04 XLT and would also like to find an FX4 cluster. I too (in my XLT) have 4x4, so this go flawlessly?
