Installing backup camera - display Q.
So, I am going to install an aftermarket backup camera (and sensors) on my 2013 F150 XLT, with plane stock mirror (temp is in center console) and have a few questions:
1. For those of you that have the LCD in your backup mirror - is it big enough?
2. For those that have a head unit where backup image displays - do you find it awkward that you're not using your rearview mirror?
I am deciding whether to replace the head unit or replace the mirror. For replacing the mirror, I'd have to find power and get the cables for the camera up into the headliner area.
Thanks.

Do you have the 4.2" screen? If so get this: https://camera-source.com/products/f...yford-displays
Just installed mine last week.

Survey of one says get a head unit for camera.
No, I don't have the 4.X screen. I just have the basic radio, and a basic mirror, which is why I'm asking which location is better.
The truck was a rental, and everything is basic except power windows/locks/mirrors.

I went with the full camera source kit and so I have the gentex mirror with the monitor built into the mirror. The install wasn't too bad and wiring through the headliner wasn't bad at all. Where it goes under the headliner is right where the liner and windshield meet so it's pretty easy to pull the headliner down a little and tuck the wire in. As far as the size of the screen built into the mirror it's plenty big enough to me and the picture is bright and clear. It's great being able to actually see what's behind me now. Here's a link to the camera source install video:
The video is worth watching even if you're installing another system because it shows how to run the wiring behind the trim.
