Default Infinity kappa speaker upgrade..

I'm about to pull the trigger on some infinity kappa 682.11CF speakers. Seeing as I still have the crappy factory ford speakers.

I want to do the speakers first and build my system around them.

More to come:

2- 10" JL audio shallow mounts

Kenwood 5 channel amp

Kenwood or alpine double din head unit.

Dynamat throughout the truck.

I am still unsure about the rest of the system, but will be ordering the infinity kappas maybe this week.

Any insight would be sweet!

Default All this has happened before, and it will all happen again

Could always look in the audio forum, as this has been beaten to death . . .

Love my infinity speakers, got them on all 4 corners. Just make sure to get baffle covers for the top half. I'm on my second set due to water damage. Cheap ***** ford parts on the window moulding.

So I have had my kappas installed for a couple of weeks and they sound amazing!

Problem. My doors are allowing water to get inside and drip on the speakers. One of them had water in the terminal. It was working fine until I disconnected it and tried to dry it out. When I reconnected it it would not work.

I located the tweeter wiring and tested it, the tweeter is working fine but the other part of the speaker isn't.

I have it out of the truck right now to see if I can get it to dry out so it would work again. I have one stock speaker in its place for now but I want to either buy another set and get baffles or get baffles and re-install the one that hopefully dries out.

Has anyone run into this??

Yes, some have run into it. I am fortunate in that I have not had the problem. I have infinity components (I think mine are reference, not kappa, its been a while), and I love them. This is the 3rd truck I have put infinity speakers in. The highs are very crisp with them, which I like. Put an amp on them if you really want them to reach their potential.
