Took the truck into the dealership, they were great about getting it looked a today, and even got me a loaner since they had it all day, trying to work it in. Well what i thought was going to happen, did happen. they could not reproduce the issue since, because it is so random and sparsely occurring. they have a call into the ford engineers to see what should be done next. i was told they would be contacting me if they needed me to bring it in again.

so apparently this may just happen sometimes with this new truck, honestly, i thought this might be an issue that would have to cause a more serious problem (truck not starting) before they could find it, or become more frequently occurring. i just hope if something has to happen with this issue, it is before 36,531 miles.

then again, i would rather not be bothered with this issue ever again.

just FYI if there is anyone else experiencing this, don't waste your time taking it in for just this issue, not until it is more frequent and easily duplicated.

I have a 2012 XLT that does the same thing. It actually would not start for me sometimes. I took it to the dealership and they removed the automatic starter since I bought the truck used from them. The truck always starts now but I do see a slight delay now and again. Ford says its normal. Sounds like their ignitions just take a tad longer. Oh well.

Wow. I'm sure we've all done it but I would have thought by now there would be built in circuits to prevent this and protect the bendix. It's been so long since I've touched a starter, do they still have a bendix? Brings back memories of when every year or so it was the starter, alternator, generator, clutch or brake cylinders, etc. Always something to do. Maintenance has gotten a lot more expensive but there aren't nearly the problems there use to be. The manufacturers have come a long way from what was, "back in my day."
