Default Ignition?

i am working on a 86 brocno since it is basically the same as a f150 of the year maybe some body can help.

I am wondering what years did Ford have that Feedback ignition system?

right now my bronco has a efi coil and distributor. it has no power and their are some of conectors hanging around. right now it sounds like it is screaming when im going through the gears but it takes a while to get up to 55mph. the truck came with an Autolite carburator but when i bought the truck it didnt have it on it but i had one Motorcraft carb on another engine i had laying around from a 83 f150 and it ran and idled good. i got the auto lite carb on their now. some one else told me to convert over to the feedback ignition system and the bronco should run fine. when i was in the junkyard i seen a 86 f150 which had everything i need for vaccum stuff and had the efi coil and distributor. and also i went to install in aftermarket tach i had laying around and it did not work on either coil wire that runs to the coil.

and also iu checked the timing and when i would give it some gas it was firing after TDC.

You will need to get a vacuum advance distributor. The EFI unit uses signals from the ECU, to determine advance.

You could use the Ford Duraspark, or go with an aftermarket ignition, like MSD, Mallory, etc......

well unless they know you can swap from the vacuum advance dis to the duraspark auto zone can get you a efi coil still.

can i possibly still run the efi coil and just add the vacuum advance distributor?

I'm not really sure, about the coil. I'd have to look up the specs. I would think it would still work.

The first thing you need to set the timing for what the book calls for or push it way up and see if power comes back. drive it and if it spark knocks push it back until it just quits knocking. let it even ping just a little bit. if it increases your power check the vacuum advance on the right port. If you have it on the wrong port it will have strong vacuum at low speeds or taking of easy. If you have it on the right port you will have strong vacuum when you are taking off hard. If it don't increase your power by advancing your timing up then its something else wrong.
