Default idleing....

let's say you are going to spend the night somewhere there isn't a house and it's hot.... could you safely idle your truck all night for ac like truckers do? maybe put it in nuetral and put the e-brake on and crawl in the back seat and sleep away?

you certainly could... although its hard on things in the engine such as the crankshaft bearings and also the oil begins to break down..Idk if this is true or not but i heard cop car engines are rebuilt because of the amount of time just idling... Now, for just a night i don't think it would cause any immediate major harm. maybe someone else might have a different opinion...

I wouldn't recommend doing it in a garage or something. Because the carbon monoxide produced in the exhaust would probably kill you..

Well I wouldn't expect you to park in a house.. It was more of a joke than anything, unless you were planning on it, then I would have saved your life. Anyway. Tons of companies have f150 and 250s for work trucks that start them in the morning and move them around and idle all day every day, they just have to change their oil more often due to it breaking down like black97 said. Doing it a couple nights will not damage your engine whatsoever.

haha ok. I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not. I just thought for a short kid like me I could make my scab into an bunk in the back and save hotel or camper rental fees.

I would just invest in a -15 degree mummy bag, and sleep with nothing but underwear on. In sleeping bags the more skin you have touching the bag the warmer you will be, just a little random info there.
