I screwed up...capless fuel system
So...I had a few gallons of gas in a jerry can (with a rubber nozzle on the end) left over from a trip. I went to dump the remaining fuel in my tank this evening. I was tired and not thinking (first time Ive put fuel in this way) so I just stuck the rubber end in the filler hole. Long story short, when I went to pull it out it ripped off. Trying to pull the rest out with plyers, even being careful and gentle, ripped it even further and it is now unreachable. I can still get gas in SLOWLY with the provided nozzle but I need to get the remaining rubber bit out.
What are my options here? All help would be much appreciated. I'd prefer to avoid the dealer. Is there a way to get in there? Truck is a 2016.

That's not going to be fun. Can you get a picture of the part still stuck in the truck? FYI, for the future, there is a funnel behind the passenger back seat where the spare tire jack is mounted.

If you can't get the remaining bits out from the top your going to have remove the filler pipe assembly and see if you can fish it out the other end, real simple to remove the filler pipe as already mentioned. If you can't get it out that end you'll have to bite the bullet and open the wallet, the pipe assembly is about $100 www.forsdparts.com

I would be very careful with this because there is a very real possibility that you may cause a spark and end up in the hospital with severe burns not to mention having the pleasure of watching your truck burn to the ground. Whatever it is that you do and as an absolute minimum you need to bond any tool that you use to the truck. This will eliminate sparks by putting the tool and the truck at the same electrical potential. Personally I would take it to a garage that way your insurance or the garages insurance will cover any damages should the whole thing turn bad. Not to mention save you a trip to the hospital.
I know of a few people who have removed gas tanks and such and they did so without incident but no one said that you will.

Lots of good advice so far. Thanks for the responses. Still weighing my options. Unfortunately work keeps me too busy to get any work done on it during the week.
