Default I Need Your Help Please!!

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping I could ask you all for your opinions about what I have on my mind. If you could give me your pros and cons or any other feedback you see from your perspective that would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Canada and I have a chance to buy a ten acres from my grandparents farm before they sell it. They have owned their farm since 1950 when they bought it for a few thousand dollars. I am very proud of my Grandparents and what they did and where they came from.

I currently have a 2012 F150 FX4(sun roof, leather, 6.5" box, 31000km's) and I make payments each month. My dad has an 1995 F150 XLT so I was thinking about selling my 2012 and buying his 1995 and saving saving some cash each month. With the money that I would save from not having payments I would drop right into a savings account.

His 1995 is stock right now but if I don't have payments I could put some cash towards some mods over the next year. I don't mean crazy expensive mods, maybe a lift for a thousand bucks, I have some old spare tires from when I was a Jeep Owner.

I am still thinking about this and I haven't really decided yet. I was hoping some of you could let me know about your ideas.

I understand my new truck is way better on fuel than the 351 Windsor that is in the 1995. Maybe someday I could swap out the 351 Windsor for a 5.4L or a 5.0L engine.

The body of the 1995 has some rust along the running boards but that's not hard to fix or get under control.

Thank You All for your Feedback,

I would stay with '12 also. Or get '95 and not put money into it other than normal maint. I just put ball joints/new tires on '99, cost 2K. Have an '89 always something.
Nice to have some land.
Remember you may not sell '12 for enough to pay off loan.

I owe 30K on the 2012 and the dealership I bought it from has offered me 30K for the truck.

The 1995 belongs to my dad so I will get it for a good price and his truck belonged to a family friend before my dad bought it so I know it was always kept up maintenance wise.

I understand that keeping it stock is the way to go.

I just think I will always have time to buy another truck someday if I sell my 2012.

Do whatever you have to do to get that land!! If it means driving a 95 for a while, do it. I wouldn't throw a bunch of money at a nearly 20 year old truck though. Especially lift and tires and appearance mods. You'll likely need to stick some money into it to keep it on the road safely. If you're just gonna blow money on mods for the 95, then keep the 2012 and drive it efficiently and maintain it properly, and keep it stock. Don't waste money on mods on the 2012 either. SPEND your money on worth while things. Lifts and mods are not worthwhile things when it comes time to having some land to call yours in 20 years. What will either of those trucks be worth in 20 years???? That land will likely triple in value...do ya think a truck with a bunch of worthless mods will triple in value??? Nope... You asked for opinions, you get opinions.

Take one of your payments and invest in a decent tool set and service manual for your'95. Being a property owner is much more rewarding than making payments on a vehicle that does nothing but depreciate in value.

Thank You everyone who gave me some feedback today. I really appreciate it all.

Selling my truck and buying the older one is exactly what I had in mind. After hearing from you guys I agree that keeping the old truck as a daily driver and not getting carried away with mods is the way to go for sure.

Thank You Again.

Just remember what they say about opinions and a-holes. There are plenty of both on here (myself included). Do what you think is right for you, after all, you're the one making the payments either way.

I totally agree that ultimately it is my decision and I will make the decision that is best for me.

I am really thinking selling my truck is the best thing for me right now at this point in my life. There will always be another truck that I can buy.
