Default How to test out 4x4

Anyone know of a good way to test out the 4wd on a 04 f150 lariat during test drive to make sure everything works as it should?

its an 04 take it to a good mechanic and pay the 100.00 to have it checked out. If they wont let you there is a reason.... walk away,,,, no run away......

If you just want to make sure it works drive off road and turn sharply with the 4x4 engaged. If you can feel a slight jerking/pulling coming from the front end it has engaged and is working.

Make sure to do the same test with the wheels turned in 2 and 4 so you can feel the difference without a doubt

Do this.

Have you never driven a 4x4 before?

lol all you have to do is get under your truck and physically turn the cv shaft with your hand. in 2wd it should turn. when in 4wd, the shaft should NOT turn. do this for each side.

As long as you are driving on a strait road you can engage it. you should be able to feel it kick in and the 4x4 light will come on. Just don't turn on the pavement with it engaged.
