actually no tools are required to remove a tailgate. un clip straps, open tailgate half way and pull it off, he did it the hard way.

also, not sure what this has to do with 2009 and newer F-150s so i moved this to general f-150 discussion.

Was half expecting the guy to follow his idiot friend's advice to jump on the hanging tailgate and was waiting for the punchline. But alas didnt happen...sigh.

ok, so ive had mine since november, i havent had to take off the gate yet, i have the lift assist, is there anything you have to do with the lift assist cable to take off the gate? thanks

the lift assist is a torsion bar that runs along the bottom inside of the tailgate and is engaged by the left side tailgate hinge. the tailgate removes just like a normal tailgate.
