The best equipment to use is a rope that will stretch. When the rope stretches it allows your vehicle to keep it's momentum and will gradually apply force to the other vehicle. When using a chain or static strap alot of times you will get stopped in your tracks and just start to spin, plus the sudden jerk is not good or either vehicle. When you are helping out someone it is always a good idea for them to hook the rope to their own vehicle so that if something goes wrong they cant blame it on you.

Excellent idea! I've not thought about having them hook it up themselves to their own vehicle. The only exception would be that person who has NO clue about even where to start to hook it up (ie- young teenage driver, etc).
