You'll almost always get a better deal by purchasing from existing inventory.
My current truck is a 2018 F150 4x4 5.0 SCREW 302A XLT/FX4; heated electric rear slider, back-up camera/warning system, remote start, towing package, LED box lighting, trailer back-up assist, 110v outlets, 3:55 diffs, Sync 3, Nav, Sirius, 8" display, 4" instrument gauge, heated, power seats (cloth), 18" Michelins; sticker was $52k, after rebates and negotiations, I paid a little over $38k.

I wish I could buy off the lot but I am too picky about what I do and don't want. Anything more or less and I will regret it. I am willing to pay up for the exact truck I want but I just don't want to pay more than I have to.

Understood completely, and I agree 100%. I’m relatively particular as well, on what specific features and options I want also. Fortunately, most of what I’m loking for in a truck, parallels how most popular features are provided. I’m generally not content unless I can get what specific combination I want. I learned that a few decades ago, after being convinced to settle for what was readily available. Good luck on your search!

When I was shopping for my first home, a wise man advised me that I could shop for the perfect home or the perfect price but not both. If you need a very specific vehicle, do not worry about the price. If you are looking for a deal, relax your standards.

I was just offered $10k off of this, I too am looking for a very spacific truck and most likely will have to order one. But I was surprised by the first offer of $10k off of that by the internet sales guy.

Its starting to look like 10,000 off is pretty much standard or else walk away from anything less.

I was lucky to have a really nice deal sitting at our local dealership.

We went in looking at new 2018 XLT's and found one that would fit the budget, but then we asked about the trucks sitting on the side of the lot.

It was 'used' in the fact it had 9,200km on the truck, but it had never been sold (Dealership demo).

The truck has the 3 year 60,000km warranty starting from when we bought so we'll hit km before 3 years.

Blue box was $68,949, we paid ~$47,000 for the truck plus taxes/financing etc. of course.

I'll take 20k off for a NEW truck with 9 thousand clicks on it anyday. Hell it was just broken in basically

MSRP is a horrible starting point. You should start with the invoice price and work from there.
