Default How to keep a tailgate locked without a key.

Hello all, my first time posting on here. So I purchased a new 2019 F150. Nothing high end, just what I need to going to work, for fishing and basic things. The one thing that has been bothering me if the fact that the tail gate does not have a key lock. For instance, my previous truck had a tonneau cover that I would keep locked so without the key to that, you essentially couldn't put the tailgate down to inside the bed of the truck. So if I had to drop off my vehicle to my mechanic, I could leave all my gear in the back and simply remove the key for the cover off my key ring. Now with my new truck, I have a basic folding hard cover that obviously had no key to lock/open. I was wondering if there was a way to disable the tailgate lock for a period of time so if I had to drop it off for any reason, someone could use the key fob to get inside the truck and whatever, but not be able to unlock my tail gate with the keyfob. It's been a long time since I have posted on a forum so if I'm not making any sense, please forgive me.

Dave

Not sure what model you have, besides the keyfob, there is a lock/unlock switch on the drivers side door that unlocks EVERYTHING..
Your previous trucks tonneau, like the one on my 17, is the only way I know of.

There is a cable running into the tailgate. You might be able to unplug it from under the truck. However, someone could simply plug it back in.

No. You'll have to remove the items your worried about.
