Edit it to something nobody will care about, and hope it just goes away.

I'm sure admins will remove the post if you ask them to.

Do not believe you can do it yourself. Admins would have to do this.

Depending on what setting the main admin (owner) has set for the site, generally the creator of a post can delete the thread providing no one else has posted in that same thread.
This can also be time barred in that if the OP creates a thread and no one posts that poster still may not be able to delete it if the time runs out for deleting.

Mods can delete it if given the permission and Admins can delete at will

Unfortunately, the general member can't delete a thread or post. You can change your post to something completely random or to just "..." if you want it to go away from someone else's thread or you can PM a Mod and we can get rid of it totally for you. Same thing applies to a thread you create.

Whatcha looking to axe?

Like i said, it's an admin set feature, by your admission it has not been set
