How to Deactivate All the Automatic Lighting
Howdy, All. I'm two months into a 2018 F150 and I'm stunned at the stupidity of all the automatic lighting. I'm an adult, and can turn on all the lights I need to myself. Will Forscan, for instance, enable me to:
1. turn off the automatic lights that come on just by unlocking it?
2. turn oft the automatic lights that come on just by opening a door?
3. turn off the automatic cargo light that comes on just because a door is open? (this is one of the stupidest things I've ever encountered, and just plain stays on)
Thanks very much.

You should probably just start taking the bulbs out, problem solved.
I am actually going to be adding more lights tied into the automatic system to give me more surrounding light.

I'm with you OPer.
These trucks light up like xmas tree by opening the doors, closing the doors and just plain shutting it off.
Way way too much lighting. Ridiculous.
A cabin dome light would be good enough or a way to enable the puddle lights if need be.
Seem to remember there's a dark police mode but can only be enabled by Forscan.
I asked my dealership if they could enable it and there answer was absolutely NO.
So i have to live with a xmas tree of a truck. lol

Yeah, my nearby dealer told me they can check if the 2018 F150 enables "police dark" mode, and they have to charge for it whether it is or not. This lighting stuff is just so stupid, it kinda blows me away. Have none of these Ford engineers ever been camping? Outside? Somewhere at night to listen to the stereo with the door open? Unbelievable.
Further, when the battery is run down, if you don't do long drives the charging system will not charge it up. So if you went to run errands, and say stopped every 10 minutes, you'd eventually get a warning message that the vehicle was shutting things down to conserve battery.

You could drive a GM. They also turn on the reverse lights so you can never tell if someone is backing up, or just unlocking their vehicle.
