Default Horn Assembly Malfunction

I have a 2015 F150 Sport and have had it about 2 years now. Just under a month ago my horn assembly got fried which resulted in the horn not working, my hazard lights to randomly and sporadically turn on and off as well as my truck not being able to shift into drive. Now, it would allow me to put the truck into drive but nothing would happen when I tried to put my foot on the gas. It acted like it was in park. I took it to my dealership since it was still under warranty and they informed me that the horn assembly took an electrical surge and with it caused the other problems listed above. The dealership replaced the horn assembly (free of charge) and I was on my way.

On my way to work today my horn beeped by itself a couple of times and then before I even left my street the hazards started flashing again and the horn was activated like someone had their hand on it. I pulled over to the side of the street, turned the truck on and off again and even attempted to lock, unlock and depress the alarm on my key fob. Nothing worked, I ended up having to go under the hood and disconnecting the horn assembly. I took the truck back to the dealership and explained the problem. They seem to think that it is the horn assembly again and are going to replace it yet again. However from talking to one of the mechanics as I was pulling out (my hazards were still going off) he mentioned that it is common for my make and model to electrical issues of this type and that I might be better off with trading it in and getting another vehicle. Has anyone else experienced issues like this before, and if so, what was the outcome? Thanks!

-Mike

That sounds REALLY UNlikely... The horn can't interfere with the transmission.

How long ago (time & miles)?

That sounds more like problems in the steering column to me, but I'm not familiar with that truck's wiring.

So are they saying that the replacement horn was subjected to the exact same "electrical surge" as the first one? Or are they saying the new horn they installed was defective before they installed it? What's their explanation for the 2nd horn causing the same random symptoms across the truck?

There are no TSBs about anything similar to what you've described, and very few in general related to electrical faults. Look it up yourself here free:
http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/

You can also look up the horn wiring diagram there (under Interior...) and see that it's not connected to any electronic modules - just the relay in the BJB. So an electrical surge to the horn would just make it honk or burn it out; it would have no effect on the BCM or SCCM, which are separate from the PCM that controls the transmission.

That seems like an extreme (and extremely expen$ive) solution to a fixable problem, but it's your money.
