Default Hood Pad

I'm wanting to replace the pad on the underside of my hood.....It's in pretty bad shape....

I can't seem to find the right phrase to use or I have no idea what the proper term is for the item.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

thanks..........

I have allways called it just what you did but I am curious as to why you want to replace it rather than just strip it out all together. It makes it so much easyer to clean and it serves no other purpose than to deaden sound.

It's called the "Hood liner" and serves a couple purposes. One is sound control and the second is to protect the hoods exterior finish from extreme heat. Heat under the finish is far more destructive then the suns heat from above.

Happy Motoring...

Heat blanket, Hood Blanket, Hood Cover, Hood Liner.
Its got a few terms. I have a custom boss lne in my mustang
Its for incase your engine catches fire it douses it and stops the heat from destroying your hood as stated before.

It won't stop the heat from destroying the hood, so much as suppress the fire long enough for you to either put the fire out, or get the hell out of there.

I live in the Arizona desert so im no stranger to heat on or under the hood. I have never had a paint problem from removeing the underhood pad. I seem to remember once apon a time when cars/ trucks didnt have pads.
