Default Hidden in your truck's computer?

I was in the service bay of my local Ford dealer today with a minor computer glitch, and the girl let it slip that pretty much everything is loaded into the computer right from the factory, whether you order it or not. All you need is the chip to activate it. I kick myself for not ordering the navigation package when I ordered my 2016 F150.
So this leaves me wondering if all I need is the Navigation chip to make it work. I had heard rumblings of this on the internet time and again, and was curious if it were true.
Any thoughts on this?

For the most part yes...most, if not all SOFTWARE is installed, and yes you can enable various stuff, but without the installed supporting hardware it wont do you any good.

I'm new to the forum and the F150. But from what I understand, (2016) Navigation must be installed at the factory. I have a 16 with Mysync3 and no Nav, and they said it could not be upgraded at the dealer it must be done at the factory. BUT in the future it may get a software upgrade to the Apps program and something like Google Maps on the phone could run thru you Mysync3...

Stop going to the dealership for info on stuff they usually lie about because they want to sound smart when they actually dont know the correct answer. It can be added....nearly anything can be added. It is up to YOU to research exactly what is needed. If it benefits you, you cant expect someone else to do the leg work.

$1500 upgrade is a little steep i'll stick to using my phone lol
