Default Help with rims

Please help, I have a 2013 F150 Platinum 5.0. My tire size are factory 275/55/20. I am in the market for different rims/tires. I am uneducated when it comes to tires/rims. I want to stay the same height. However, I would like to go just a bit wider. So, they will stick out a smidge from the wheel well. No lift/level kit going on. Just want it to stick out a little. Thanks for any help.

Try this: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

You can put in your current size then enter new sizes to see what will be the same overall height.

275/55-20 = 31.9"
305/50-20 = 32"
295/50-20 = 31.6"
295/55-20 = 32.8"

If you want to stay the same size in height...and you want the wheel/tire to stick out a little more, do you really want a wider tire & wheel? Or do you just want it to stick out more? I ask because you can have it either, or both.

If you want wider, then just buy a wider wheel. 10.5, 12.5, etc.

If you want to stay the same width but just have it stick out a little more, then get a different offset. This is the point in the wheel where the actual wheel bolts up to the truck. If you change the offset, then this portion of the wheel will be set back a little more. Giving a "deep dish" look to the wheel (meaning you have more wheel from the hub out). It will also make the tire stick out of the truck a little more.

Just be careful. The more your tire sticks outboard of the truck, the more crap gets slung all over the truck. If you put tire shine on after you wash the truck...it'll be all over the side of the truck by the next day. Also, rocks and other road debris will be kicked up too (scratching your paint). Depending on how far out or wide you go, you may end up rubbing a little up front. so be careful of that too.

If you have a Discount Tire where you live, drive over and talk to them. They are usually pretty good about letting you test fit wheels and stuff like that on your truck. When I was shopping they actually mounted 3 different wheels with tires and put them on the truck so I could see what it looked like on the truck.
