I need help please! I bought a 1997 F150 it's a lil beat up but not too bad. Used to be a State Work truck. My problem is the lights in the rear. When I hit the brakes, the left brake light is dim but works and the right works fine. Turn on the headlights and the left brake light goes out, right one is still fine. If I turn on the RIGHT blinker the taillights alternate like a cop car in a wig wag pattern. If I turn on the LEFT blinker it works fine, if I hit the brakes while the left blinker is on it goes out. I've disconnected my towing package, no help, I've replaced the bulbs in BOTH taillights, no dice either. I really don't wanna take this to a dealer, because I don't wanna get raped, can someone PLEASE HELP ME?!?!?! Thank you!!!

 

dude thats cool. it seems to me either the wiring is all messed up or the mulit switch is going out. but i think the wiring is all bad.

 

I gaurantee the state used it as a highway work truck and had all those strobes in the lights, and when they ripped those out they screwed up the wiring

 

So where do I start? Should I just run all new wiring?

 

follow the wires and see why its messed up. i bet there's just 2 or 3 wires crossed.

 

UGH Still haven't found the problem with the lights, BUT on a good note I cleaned my MAF and changed the TPS and plugs and wires and she runs like a new truck!

Now if only I could fix my lights! LOL
