Help with key in ignition
Hello, I have a 2019 Ford F150, 2.7 ecoboost engine. My wife accidentally bent our truck key and then she forced it into the ignition. We are no longer able to remove the key, we’ve tried a few different things, but I believe that the key isn’t turning far enough “off” to be able to pull it out. Does anybody have any suggestions? If worst case scenario I have to call to have ignition / key fixed, does anybody know about how much that would cost? I appreciate any help!
Unfortunately that video doesn’t help, when she damaged the key, it kind of bent and twisted, the truck still starts which is great, but I believe the issue is I can’t twist the key far enough left, for the mechanism to unlock and release the key.
Time to bust out the plier and twist it good and see if itll come out with minor damage.
It may be that you have to order a new lock cylinder and a replacement key and then get your new key programmed to the truck and lock cylinder. Depending on how the colder is held in, you may need to break some trim pieces to remove as well.
some problems require a hammer and new parts to resolve.
