help!! asap!
hello,... this is an easy question for most .. but i have been told one thing by mechanics , and another by ford...
i am changin my rotors on my 89 F150 4x4, i have taken the calipers and brakes off, i have taken off the manual 4x4 switch, the 6 allan bolts holding the cover on , taken out the spring and the first outter ring is off, using a pic..... this is where i am confused.. i have been told there is another ring behind that really hard to see, andi have to pic around to get that one out.. then everything should slide out and then there is 2 more bolts to take out then i can take off the old caliper,.. now ford is saying that i need a special tool to take it out??? i spent 2 hrs yesterday picking around for this other "ring" and really it just look like a washer.. so what do i do.. yes i am a noob at fixing my truck... just starting to learn to do it all my self... any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks alot.

Wish I was the 4 wheel expert for you but I'm not. Just read a couple days ago that the rotors are seperate from the hub. Might check that out, see if you can see a seperation where rotor joins hub. If it is one piece like back in the eighties, there is another snap ring, but it does not have the protruding holes for snap ring pliers. Just a little crevice that fills with grease and extremely hard to find. I used to blow the area with compressed air to locate the notch. Have to go pick blackberries with my grandson, will check back in later.
