Default Headlights

Is it just me, or are the headlights on the 2016 F-150 not very bright? My wife's 2020 Honda HRV headlights seem a LOT brighter. Perhaps I should change mine out to LEDs? If anyone has a suggestion for them, feel free to chime in. Thanks.

The halogen headlights are pure garbage. Look into Morimoto XB or XB Hybrids if you want actual usable light output and not blind everyone else on the road by just slapping led bulbs in the factory lights.

My first set of LEDs finally went bad after 8 years, replaced the SuperNova v.3s with GTR Ultra 3 low beams and WOW. These are in a stock halogen reflector and the photos 8 years apart with different cameras by about 25 feet away, the fist 2 stock and SNv3 are fall 2017 same parking spot the last is 2026 GTR a couple spots right and higher in the lot.

The cut off is so much better and I thought the SNv3 was quite good! The GTR Ultra 3 wipes them out. KM

It isn’t just you. The headlights on my 2018 are just as bad. The OL recently purchased a new 2025 Explorer which has LED’s and the visibility is much better than the F-150.

The headlights on my old 2007 Tacoma are WAAAAY better than the 2014 F150. I lived with them until I bought a 2020 Explorer with LED's. After driving it the F150 was no longer acceptable.

I read on the internet that buying LED bulbs alone isn't acceptable, but I figured I had nothing to lose. The ones I bought were a big improvement. Not as good as the ones on my Explorer, but it was well worth it to me, about $70. They didn't project light any farther down the road, but the light was brighter and whiter making it far easier to see.

If installed and adjusted correctly you don't blind oncoming traffic. At least not the ones I used.
