Default Headlight troubles

Ok so here is the deal... About 3 months ago my kids spilled a drink in the truck and it went all over the dash luckily I had a towl handy and got it dried pretty quick, or so I thought. Got home and the headlights were still on so I went back to the truck to turn them off and they were off. Messed with the switch back and forth and no change. Auto, Off, On or Park didn't matter they wouldn't go off. Talk to a friend said that drink might have gotten on the sensor and once dried it might go off and it did! No problems till today went to take the kids to school and headlights were on, in off postition but truck started fine. Went to school came home and they went right off. Tried to go to the store and this time just click, click, click won't start. Was wondering if I could just remove the fuse for the auto lights or will that solve my problems?? Got someone on the way to jump it now, but I know that is just a temporary fix. Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks

I don't think you need to remove the fuse for the auto lights, a Taurus wagon that I used to own had the auto lights, but there was a dial on the dash that allowed you to adjust the sensitivity for when the lights would come on and it also allowed you to turn off the "auto" feature. That should resolve the problem, temporarily, I would think.

or you have pop covering the sensor on the dash therefor it acts like its at night and allows the lights to continue to shine..

Thanks but no adjustment to be found for sensitivity.

My only thing with the pop on the sensor is why do the lights come on when the switch is in the off position and the car is off?
