Headlight bulbs - What's the best / brightest?
I got a 2013 Ford f150 fx4 with the factory halogen bulbs. I do alot of highway and night time driving and I find the stock halogen bulbs to be really crappy and dim. Now I've had hids before on my older truck and they are great but always had ballasts and bulbs failing on me. I've had the sylvania bulbs but didn't see an improvement. I'm wondering if anyone has tried these "led" bulb kits you can buy and how well they are? Or if anyone knows of a better bulb I can just buy to replace the stock one's. Piaa have some nice bright white bulbs but would like to get some input before dishing out the cash to buy them....
Also about these hid retro fits.. Has anyone done it? And how hard is it to do?

Trying to figure it out!
I don't know what bulb the 2013 takes but I put Sylvania Superstar/Silverstar (something like that) in my Tribute and my motorcycle and they are Definately brighter and whiter than a regular halogen without the blue hue.

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
The problem isn't the bulb, its the reflector housing..

I would definitely recommend Kensun HIDs. I have the 8K H13's for my 2010 F150 and man, they are bright! Their customer service is beyond my expectations. My driver's side bulb was bad and I also claimed about maybe ordering resistors. They sent me two bulbs and a resistor for free! Overall, great customer service; you and everyone else reading this will be very pleased with their products (especially with the 8K's).

Since these trucks use the lowbeam as daytime running lights would I run into issues if I installed hids? The daytime running lights are the lowbeams but it seems as when there on they are not operating at full strength... They almost seem dimmer, then when you turn headlights on they brighten up.

Over on F150online, there are several good write ups on lighting, bulbs, etc. in the Illumination and lighting section. Very good basic, and common sense information. I have an '02 Mercury Grand Marquis that uses the 9007 bulb for the headlights. They are seriously lacking. So I'm researching now. First, I need to get new housings 'cause the current ones aren't doing it. Then I need to change to better bulbs, hence the research. I've been using the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras for many years. But I've been hearing great stuff about the GE Nighthawk, and Philips Extreme Vision bulbs. So the research continues. Oh, and for the PIAA's, I've been using PIAA for many years. I have a set of the RS600 HID driving lights, and the LP570 LED driving lights. All good. But don't buy PIAA because of the 55w=85w hype. That's all it is. It's the coatings on the bulb that changes the color (Kelvin), that makes them appear to be brighter. Not just PIAA uses that ploy thou. Again, do your research.....Good Luck.

I would place resistors in case. HIDs require more power than stock bulbs thus, adding resistors would provide you with maximum power. I have stopped using my daytime running lights and just switch it on manually if I want to turn them on during the day.
