I would mount it to the bed. haha

I looked at the bed, and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to fab up some brackets.

I never really got up in the bed that far to look around to see where something like that could be mounted, I have a cover and I send the kid up in there to get anything...

Good luck and lets see the pics once you get going on it.

I have been talking to people lately about making one for my trucks as well. The main reason i want it is to hold a light bar, but i would also like the rear glass protected. I dont really want the expanded metal look, so im planning on using 1/4 in metal bars running horizontally. I also want to make it hinged so that i can fold it down to wash the window. Lets us know how yours looks when yer done.

the hinge idea is good, but I'm going to use those cotter pin/clip things like you use to hold the deck on your lawnmower, and the whole unit will just pull off. I want mine mainly to add cargo area and auxiliary backup lights.

im sure you could use the stake pockets to add a little strength to the whole mounting setup.
