Hello I recently rebuilt my transmission for my 2007 f150 king ranch 4x4 and installed it every thing went in good no problem with the install and then went for a test drive all gears shifting good everything was going good then the od light came on and the transmission malfunction message came up I pulled over turned off the truck checked everything fluid level connectors all good I then turned it back on cont. Driving all gears still going in smooth overdrive is working as well but light was still on and also the malfunction message I drive for about 20 more miles pulled into gas station turned truck off. Then turned truck back on od light did not come back on and malfunction message went away. I drove the truck like that for a day everything is running fine but the next day the light came back on and the transmission malfunction light came back on. So I am woundering if there is a learning procedure after install or what could be causing this?

 

Hello new to the forum so I rebuilt and installed the transmission on my 2008 f150 ford king ranch 4x4 install was fine after install began to test drive and the OD light and transmission malfunction message came on I kept driving all the gears shifted in fine also shifted into overdrive fine Drove for about 30 miles and the OD light and transmission malfunction turned off Drove the truck for another day alll was good until the following evening the OD light and transmission malfunction light came back on So I drove it around to see if there was any issues shifting had none turned the truck off checked fluids and connectors all good turned truck back on lights are back off I'm woundering if there is a learning procedure I need to perform ? Or what do you guys think might be going on ?

If the light goes off after coming on that means it's a sporadic problem. It happens, the light comes on, then it fixes itself and the light goes off. It might be that certain driving conditions cause the problem to happen, like accelerating or decelerating. Just a guess but a sticking OD mechanism seems reasonable.

Many people out here are on computers so the big ball of words that you work through on your phone doesn't do well here. Put some commas and paragraph breaks in your posts.

How deep did you go when you say "rebuild"? There might be a clue there. And why did you rebuild it?

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the grammer. I was wondering if there is a relearn or calibration process. I bought the truck with the transmission not having reverse which lead to they rebuild of the transmission. I used a sunex rebuild kit. Also the transmission malfunction and the OD light were on when I bought the truck.I have tried clearing them but they won't clear. The truck is running fine the transmission sounds good all gears shift good. I can reach max speed no problem have driven it about 100 miles no problems yet. So I'm thinking I just need to recalibrate it or something to that affect if anyone knows ?Thank you guys hope this post is easier to read again Sorry if my grammar or punctuation or Paragraphing is not correct.
