Have you priced used trucks?

Yeah, just be patient and find a deal. That is what I always do and I have to agree with oldmanb777. I don't have car payments either and it's nice.

I couldn't agree more with the previous two post. Do not buy new, although I just saw that the dealers are terribly overstocked and prices maybe headed for a huge plunge.
Use the internet and be patient and you will find what you what in the price range.
oldman777 where is the LA of Colorado? I am guessing Denver? I used to live in Fort Collins and loved it.

A co-worker of mine bought a 2008 Ford Expedition XLT for $30k at a Ford dealer that had been used as a rental car for a rental company that had around 6k miles on it right before Christmas. The vehicle is spotless and has no flaws at all. He got a awesome deal on it if you ask me. That vehicle new is over $40k. I guess the rental company got rid of the big SUV because no one wanted to rent it because of the gas price spike we saw before the economy plunge.

Picked up my 03 SCab xl 4x4 5.4l w/89500 miles a couple of weeks ago for 9900.00 nearly flawless condition. was a lightly used (Seriously!) service truck for a local phone co-op. was priced a bit under blue book.
I think the percieved value of a used vehicle may have jumped in recent weeks with the fall of gas prices and the shrinking demand in the new vehicle market.

They pay me to drink
All I can really offer is what I just paid for mine. 98 XL 4x4, ext cab, shortbed, 4.6L auto. Only options are A/C, cassette, tilt, cruise. manual windows and locks, rubber floors. Mine had a new Rhino spray in liner and brand new tires as well. $4500 from a private party with 123k miles. This is all in Austin, TX where it seems trucks bring rather random values. There is a huge demand for trucks down here, but also a huge supply. There are a million 73-87 Chevy beaters for $300 that would be fine ranch trucks, then it seems most late-model 1/2 tons are reasonably priced, but the 3/4 ton and diesel models are bringing top dollar.
put it this way, I went to look at an 01 Dodge cummins, optioned very similarly to the 98 F150 I bought. It had the 24v, 214k miles, and a small tree had fallen across the bed. The doors wouldn't shut right, and the steering had about 2" of slop in it. He was asking $4400 which was WAY under KBB value of about $7000. I can understand that diesel keeps resale value, but a KBB value of $2500 more for a truck with nearly twice the mileage? Not for me, man. Diesels down here are beat and they're still expensive.... and I am a diesel nut. For the money I saved, I'm instead going to put a 4BT in my F150
So here in TX I'm just getting a feeling for truck prices. My F150 KBB'd at about $5200 private party so I think I got a good deal. It was at least a good deal for me. I don't feel like I walked away with a steal, but very fair given its excellent, pampered condition.

my parents picked my 2004 fx4 scab with every option the fx4 offered, with exhaust and fender flares with under 40k miles for a lil under 15, it blue booked a good bit higher but my dad's company gets all the trucks thru there so yay me for getting the perks of it

I've been shopping around in Eastern Kentucky/Northern TN for the past 2 months for a good used truck and I agree will all of the above posts..These people are out of there freaking minds..Just yesterday I test drove a 2005 SuperCab xlt with 44,600 miles on it and they were asking $23,900 and acted like that was a steal...I have decided to go the much narrower path of finding a Private Seller and I already hit the jackpot, Going tomorrow to test drive and hopefull buy this truck. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
