Default Hand wax routine

Hey everyone,

I want to start a hand wax routine because I live in a rust state and it just looks good. What kind of intervals should I hand wax in? I was thinking once every two weeks? What are your opinions?

Wax isn't really going to help prevent rust so much as the actual washing does. Washing your truck removes the salts and chemicals that promote rust. Wax does add a layer of protection but waxing every 2 weeks is overkill in my opinion.

I would start with getting a clay bar kit and barring your truck to remove all the deposits and old wax from your paint. Then do a complete stage wax (clear coat cleaner, polish, sealer) as a good base to go off of. From there, once a month would be more than enough. Just make sure to keep it clean in the meantime.

If you are going to do this on a reg basis, you might want to invest in an orbital buffer.

Default Keep It Simple......:

If the finish on your ride is in good condition don't mess around with waxes and buffers, etc. Get yourself a supply of Klasse Polish and Glaze, wash the ride and apply the Polish first. Buff the surface out by hand with a microfibre cloth, let it dry for a day, then apply a coat of Glaze. Repeat the operation every six months or so.
Klasse, by the way, is the stuff BMW, Mercedes, etc., use to shine up their show cars. The stuff really works and a very small amount goes a long, long way.

Cool, thanks for the input guys. Its still winter here so I'll just do the clay in about a month and when I'm in the spring/summer months I'll see what that glaze product is all about. Again, thanks for the opinions guys.

I shoot for once a quarter for doing a wax... just like doing oil changes..

I also live in Michigan, so I do it before winter sets in.

Every change of season or every 6 months is fine.
